Ancient Letters

Most of you have probably heard or read about Rob Bell’s infamous little quote on “Oprah” concerning the church and the Bible’s stance on homosexuality.  Here’s a taste of it, “…the church will continue to be even more irrelevant when it quotes letters from 2,000 years ago as their best defense…”

Michael Boldea, author of the Homeward Bound blog, expounds on the subject quite eloquently in his post, And Now You Know!  I won’t attempt to say much about the subject other than that the Bible is more relevant than ever.  The truth found in those ancient letters is what we need to navigate these treacherous times in which we live.  We need to be deep into the Word of God, saturating ourselves with its truth.  It is imperative that we live that truth out in our lives in both thought and deed.

Speaking In Tongues

I came across the following article at Praying For Revelation, and felt it was worth sharing.  I know this is a particularly touchy subject with a lot of people, but it seriously shouldn’t be.  It’s one of the gifts graciously given by God for our edification, and also, I personally believe, to aid us in spiritual warfare.  But that’s a whole other topic of conversation.  Anyway, I hope you will take a couple minutes to read the article whether or not you believe in this gift.  It’s worth the time.

Who Are the Children of Israel?

The following article written by Rabbi Mordecai Silver.

Who Are the Children of Israel?

I would also suggest watching the following video by Jim Staley called Identity Crisis.  It’s another excellent study on the identity of the Children of Israel…and quite interesting.

Identity Crisis by Jim Staley

From the website: “For two thousand years we have all been taught that Israel is the Jewish people and the Jewish people are Israel. This misunderstanding has crippled our ability to truly glean from the scriptures all that was originally intended. We as Believers have lost our mission, purpose and depth of knowledge of the scriptures and it is largely because of not understanding this very important topid. The greatest prophecy of the bible concerns this very subject. Many have called this teaching the key to understanding the entire bible! “The very understanding of this difference (of the two ancient Kingdoms of Israel) is the KEY by which almost the entire Bible becomes intelligible, and I cannot state too strongly that the man who has not yet seen that Israel of the Scripture is totally distinct from (not just) the Jewish people, is yet in the very infancy, the mere alphabet of Biblical study, and that to this day the meaning of seven-eighths of the Bible is shut to his understanding.” —Professor C.A.L. Totten (1851-1908) of Yale University”
