The Maze That I Sometimes See

Reasoned Cases For Christ

This is the word that I use to describe some of the things that have taken place within the visible Christian Church within the last four or five decades. There is definitely history involved, in teachings, manifestations and what has transpired during this time. Gotquestions.org has a  quick overview on some of the aspects which you can view here.  To be candid with you, I still haven’t figured all of it out, but I have backed away from some of it, actually a lot of it, because of excesses, false teachings and what I would deem as false manifestations of God’s Holy Spirit, such as “Holy Laughter” and being “slayed in the spirit”, to name but a couple.

That’s not to say that I don’t believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are not still in operation.  I definitely do, but there is a distinct difference between what…

Reasoned Cases For Christ

This is a WordPress repost that I just had to share with you. It’s from the Stand To Reason blog site. Take the time to read it and listen to it, trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

————————-

There are seasons of life that arereallyhard. My family is going through one right now. In the last month, we have been hit with the death of my grandpa, a painful autoimmune disease in my four-year-old daughter, the discovery of a large four-inch mass on my father-in-law’s spine, and the serious prospect of pancreatic cancer in my uncle. We’re getting hit hard. But I don’t think we’re unique. Many people go through periods like this.

During this painful season, we have been praying fervently. Unfortunately, we are not seeing the miraculous healings we are asking for.

These kinds of experiences have caused some to doubt God’s ability to…

To Steward A Broken Heart Well

See, there's this thing called biology...

I really like that as a purpose, as the meaning of life, as the very essence of our faith.

Whose broken heart? Mostly our own. There’s a song that goes, “Show me how to love like You have loved me, Break my heart for what breaks Yours..” As the Bible says, “Mourn with those who mourn, weep with those who weep..” In order to do that one must have a heart that is willing to break and be put back together. One of my favorite definitions of grace is, “absorbing the cost.” Love comes with a price, it asks you to absorb the cost, it is painful. There is no such thing as “feel good” love. That’s a harsh statement, but one cannot even love a dog without at some point experiencing the pain of separation and death. Love often hurts, at least if you’re doing it well.

There is…

Standing Against the Spirit of the Antichrist

Last week, instead of continuing with our overview of the Old Testament, our teacher David Nathan, deviated from the usual lesson to talk about this very important subject.

The Antichrist will soon appear, but the antichrist spirit has been in the world since the time of Jesus. Because of the increasing wickedness in the world, we need to be aware of this more than ever. We need to know how to stand against this antichrist spirit.

Time is running out and every believer, in my opinion, needs to hear and heed this teaching. It does not instill fear, but rather, it is encouraging and uplifting.

God Chooses the Weak…

Pastor David Nathan was unable able to continue with his Old Testament Overview teaching today on YouTube because of the continually increasing rolling blackouts that South Africa has been experiencing. Instead, he shared the following sermon, which he preached a few years ago.

It is very timely and I found it extremely encouraging even more so now than when he first preached it several years ago. Every born again believer needs this reminder in light of the world we are living in today. It’s not very long, but very much worth listening to.
