The Image of the Beast

I’m reblogging this because it is very thought-provoking. You can make your own mind up whether to believe it or not. I’m intrigued and will be reading more from this blog before I make up mind whether or not I believe it.

Should Christians Cremate Their Loved Ones?

Should Christians Cremate Their Loved Ones?

John Piper writes:

My proposal in this article is that Christian churches be willing to help families financially with simple Christ-exalting funerals and burials, so that no Christian is drawn to cremation because it’s cheaper. I’m not thinking mainly of a line-item in the budget, but of a segregated compassion-fund that church members may give to regularly or as the need arises. Grieving families could quietly approach the overseer of that fund and make it known that they have a need, and all could be handled quietly and carefully between the family and the funeral home.

At the same time, I do believe that pastors should discourage expensive funerals. In a Bible-saturated, counter-cultural church, made up of kingdom-minded sojourners and exiles (1 Peter 2:11), no one should be pressured into the mindset that the more expensive the coffin, the more loved the deceased. Pastors…

A Glimpse Into The Afterlife

Often the question is asked, “How could a God of love permit such a place as hell to exist, let alone send people there?”

Asking a question like this reveals a lack of understanding of the love of God or the wickedness of sin. God’s love is a holy love, not a shallow sentiment. The Scriptures tell us that “God is light and in Him is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5 NKJV). Sin is rebellion against God, and the Bible says we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory (see Romans 3:23). God does not send people to hell; people send themselves there by refusing to heed God’s call and believe in his son. These are people who have made a deliberate choice to not believe.  —Greg Laurie

Why You Do Not Reject Christ

A Ruby In The Rough

Jenners Tombstone

“If you are without Christ, you do not reject Christ because of any fatalistic fear of God’s decree. That is not what keeps you from Christ. You do not reject Christ because of the hypocrites you claim to see in the church. You may say that is why you reject Him, but you know it is a deception. Nor do you reject Christ because of any intellectual doubts you may have. You reject Jesus Christ because of your sin, because you are disobedient, because you love your wickedness, and because your heart is bound to your idols. That is why you reject Jesus Christ, your love of sin. The Lord Jesus said, “Men love darkness rather than light.” Why? Because they have intellectual difficulties with the light? Because they see hypocrites professing to walk in the light? Because they have some fatalistic notions of God’s predestination? No, sir! Strip the…

1 Chron 16:15-22  Ps. 105:11-15

Remember His covenant forever, the word which He commanded for a thousand generations, the covenant which He made with Abraham, and His oath to Isaac, and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant, Saying, ‘To you I will give the land of Canaan as the allotment of your inheritance,’  when you were few in number, indeed very few, and strangers in it.  When they went from one nation to another, and from one kingdom to another people, He permitted no man to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes, Saying, ‘Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.’

The False Teaching

Truth is hard to swallow when your belly is full of the narratives false teachers have sold to you.  Today I hear this quote more often than I care to say. …
