Two posts in one day is a major accomplishment for me. But I had shared part of my last post Upcoming Presidential Election on Facebook, and of course, got an immediate reaction. I responded and would like to share here what I shared there.
True freedom is found in Jesus Christ, not on man’s puny aspirations to create a nation where any and every kind of sin can reign in the name of “true freedom.” For too long the so-called church in America has failed in its job to call this nation to repentance. Now we are going to reap what has been sown. The church should have been weeping and mourning in repentance for all the sins that have been committed in the name of “freedom” and “choice” in this country. ( ie. abortion, homosexuality, materialism, idolatry just to name a few) Instead, the church and this country have gone their merry way participating in the very same sins that God warned the nation of Israel about back in Leviticus, the very same book of the Bible you quoted. Just a couple verses on it says, Lev. 25:14 “But if you do not obey Me and do not observe all these commandments, if you reject My laws and spurn My rules, so that you do not observe all My commandments and you break My covenant, I in turn will do this to you: I will wreak misery upon you ….. I will set my Face against you: you shall be routed by your enemies, and your foes shall dominate you…..And if you do not obey Me, I will go on to discipline you sevenfold for your sins, and I will break your proud glory….” It goes on and on what God will do to the nation of Israel, HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE. What makes us think that we will be spared and rescued when we do not obey God and his commands? God allowed Israel to be given over to its enemies for the sins they committed. Why should America be spared for its sins? The rate of divorce in the church is on the same level as it is in the secular world. Homosexuality is accepted and embraced in churches and who knows how many many babies have been in aborted even in the church. America has failed to live up to its alleged “Christian” foundations and now it will answer for its sins. Mark my words. No election is going to change the judgment that has already been determined for this country. The founding fathers did not understand that faith in the Creator and true freedom are inseparable. For if they did, they would have made this nation a theocracy, proclaiming in every founding document that faith in the Creator, the Lord God of the Universe is where we will ONLY find our true freedom. And that Freedom is in his son Jesus Christ.
I have not been on Facebook for the last few months, (at God’s leading) and only recently (the last few days) have posted on it. I do not know if God is releasing me to start posting there again or not, but I do know he has placed in my heart that our time is short. Incredibly short. I don’t know if it’s in relation to the judgment I feel is coming on America, or if it is His return is imminent…perhaps, both. I feel this need to shout from the rooftops, “Repent! Repent, before it’s too late! Return to your first love, return to Yeshua the Messiah. Only He can give us true freedom.” Or maybe I just need to shout it on Facebook…and here.
The Lord has been leading me into new understanding about various things over the past several months. One of those things is that so-called believers residing in America have made patriotism and nationalism into a new religion. It has infiltrated the church like a new fad. It’s “hip” and “cool” to be a TEA Party member, especially if you’re a “Christian.” (I speak from experience. I was a TEA Party member at one time.)
While I believe that we must pray for our country and for our leaders, I no longer endorse the idea that believers should venerate patriotism to the level of God. It is as much an act of idolatry as the pagans who worship idols.
This morning I was reading through the new posts on blogs I follow, and came across one that talks about being asked about the upcoming election and who to vote for. Michael Boldea makes some pretty profound statements, which most definitely echo the way I feel. Following is a quote from his blog:
“If men calling themselves bishops, pastors, elders, deacons, prophets and apostles no longer aspire to righteousness, holiness, or any semblance of morality, what makes us think even for one second that a politician will?
The notion that righteousness will flow forth from the oval office, if a certain candidate wins the presidency is childish and foolish on its face.
We are as Israel was, no longer satisfied with the leadership and guidance of God, and for many a year now, have taken it upon ourselves to rule and govern ourselves. We got what we wanted, we got what we deserved, and this time around will be no different than the last. We will, once more, get the kind of leadership we deserve…no better, no worse. What we must not lose sight of is that this rock will keep spinning regardless of who wins the elections in the coming days, and if this rock is still spinning, we the children of God still have a duty and obligation to Him, to preach Christ and Him crucified…..If history has taught us anything, it is that politicians disappoint, and try as we might, we will never have a political solution to a spiritual problem.
Make no mistake, America’s problem is a spiritual one, and the only remedy for what ails this nation is repentance; a repentance that must begin within the house of God, and reverberate throughout the land. ” —Michael Boldea
I caught part of the last presidential debate this evening. The candidates were asked about their stance on America’s relationship with Israel. Obama said that he would stand with Israel IF they were attacked. What was not at all surprising was his lack of support should Israel attack Iran first. To me, it’s pretty clear. The rest of the world, including America, will fail to stop Iran from building nukes, and Israel will have to take action to protect herself. If Obama is in power when this happens, there is no doubt that the American government, at Obama’s bidding, will cut her ties with Israel. Then judgment will come full blast on this country.
Just my two cents worth.
I was reading another blog about the lack of discernment in the Christian church today and came across this quote, which I borrowed because I think it speaks to the truth of the matter:
“I blame this lack of discernment, partly, on raw zeal for God. We’re spiritually hungry – which can be a good thing. But sometimes, hungry people will eat anything. Many of us would rather watch a noisy demonstration of miracles, signs and wonders than have a quiet Bible study.” J. Lee Grady
Unfortunately, many will blindly accept any and everything.
1Jn 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Do not be remiss in testing the spirits. It may look, sound, smell, and feel good, but if it does not bear good fruit, it is not the fruit you want to be eating.
