Chickadees, Eagles and a Dog

I just got back from visiting my parents down on the Kenai Peninsula. It was a nice, relaxing three days. I was fortunate enough to get some photos of eagles on my way down, so I thought I’d share them.

The first few pictures in this slideshow were taken at my house of chickadees. The following ones are of eagles on the Kenai River at Cooper Landing. The rest of are of my parents’ new dog.

Love the pictures. Whereabouts on the Kenai do they live? My wife and I summered in Homer in 1987. We loved it, even if we did live in a tent for three months.

    Hi John,
They live outside of Sterling, east of town going towards the mountains. I can’t imagine living in a tent up here for 3 months, even in the summer. But when I was younger I might have done it.

It was dirty, cold, and hard … but we had a blast. Nothing better than halibut or salmon cooked over a campfire. Can’t imagine doing it now–some days I feel I can hardly get our of bed in the morning.

Oh yeah! Can’t beat fresh caught halibut or salmon. Have to say halibut is my favorite.
